November 20th, 2014 from the designer, Kimberly:

Hi Everyone,

Just a word from my heavy heart…
I rarely make such requests like this one, but behind the scenes my heart has been squeezed rather tightly lately. Aunt Starlene, the Cancer Warrior who inspired my “4-Pointed Halo” hat designed and featured in Rowan Yarns All Seasons Cotton, has been going through some tough times and it pains us to be packing up for an emergency trip to see her. Why? Because we all have been hoping to see her in better health, not a declining one.

My request is more like an announcement: For every “Halos Of Hope” hat pattern purchased from now until December 21st 31st, 2014, each purchase counts as a chance to win one of these purple skeins of Tanis Fiber Arts Purple Label and Malabrigo yarn Sport. Aunt Star adores purple, so I selected these 2 yarns to represent her love. And here’s another incentive if you like purple yarn -- buy the “4-Pointed Halo” and get your purchase counted as TWO chances. If you actually knit the “4-Pointed Halo” and post your project on Ravelry, you have another chance to win --AND-- I will knit one to match for charity.

Update from Ron Miskin (aka BuffaloGuy) of The Buffalo Wool Company: “and we will add 2x “Earth” yarn to the pot; have some in a green that would look great in this pattern.“

So… Can you please help me raise money for Pam Haschke’s “Halos of Hope” and knit up “4-Pointed Halo” hats to honor my Aunt Star? You need to email your receipt to thebunnyATsomebunnysloveDOTcom to have your entry counted.

Another update: Halos of Hope just contacted me and are adding other goodies like an Erin Lane bag and stitchmarkers.

Thank you tons in advance… bunny hugs

My Aunt Star said her alohas and joined the heavens November 21st. I am grateful to everyone who has purchased a pattern from Halos of Hope, to all making 4PH hats, and to those donating prizes into the pot.

Photos of yarn in raffle:

To celebrate the first month anniversary of Aunt Star’s welcome into Heaven, I am extending this raffle. The drawings for the 6 winners will be December 31st and announced on New Year’s Day. Who would love to start the new year as a winner?

This pattern made its debut at the Halos of Hope booth during STITCHES East 2012 in Hartford, CT.

From the designer, Kimberly:
In creating this hat for Halos of Hope, I was inspired on how my husband’s aunt called herself a “Cancer Warrior” instead of a survivor. She is an angel always full of fire and and spirit, hence I decided to put “points” on her halo by way of a hat. Stitch markers and mathematics become your friend when you knit up this “only looks complicated” beanie full of twisted stitches. Use a soft washable yarn because this hat will be a much-worn favorite.

There is an updated version available that better explains in the written instructions how to knit Round 10. Please contact the designer for any questions.

Notes
Needles: I used Hiya Hiya Bamboo 40-inch needles for Magic Loop testing, and used Hiya Hiya Sharps 16-inch with Kollage DPNS for other knitting in the round tests.

Notions: I used 1 distinct stitch marker to show the beginning of the round with 3 other markers. Also used 1 locking marker with no other markers in testing.

Gauge: The hat is knitted according to “until number of inches” per instructions.

Stitches: The M1P is purled through the back loop. This prevents a hole from appearing between the first round of decreases.

Size: Adult sizes -- medium (large)
Approximately 18 (20) inches circumference (unstretched)
6” height before crown
