Knitting sideways does neat things with variegated and self-striping yarn: you get vertical lines in the finished shawl, emphasizing the radial shaping of this almost-circular design.

It also means that you don’t have to knit interminably long rows as your shawl nears completion!

The short rows in Anthemon are done just by turning the work – no wrapping, no fancy stitches, if you can knit, purl, knit two together and make a yarn over (and count), you can do this.

Find a couple of balls of yarn (DK weight is suggested, but you can easily go larger or smaller, this is a flexible pattern), get in your comfy chair and cast on!
