The first of a pattern collection newly designed and written by Edel MacBride as part of an Aran knitting revival project.

Seeing how passionate her teenage children were some years back about ‘old’ Aran knit pieces at home inspired Edel to revisit the stitches and stories she grew up with and give them some new respect.

A heavy worsted or Aran weight yarn will work,
or any yarn that works with a needle size from 4.5 /5/ 5.5 mm (European), or even 6mm.

The scarf in Aran weights over 300g.
The length is always optional. If you are fairly new to cabling or Aran knitting try the half length version as a neat cowl or collar?
This is a classic style that will suit all and be a wonderful gift.
I recommend making it in a natural fibre.
Stitches: diamond with moss centre, link stitch also known as fern or feather, twist two small cable.

Pattern is written without charts.

The size is approx 10-11ins wide x 70-72ins long
