Arbor Long Cowl

Charted pattern.

Intermediate skill level: Wraps (smocking), ktbl, basic lace sts, ‘no stitch’ spaces, and shifting repeat borders that extend beyond end of round.

Japanese wrapped stitching creates a lovely lattice effect. With simple lace points at the lower edge.

Worked in the round.

Blocking necessary.

220 yards (202 m) of worsted weight yarn
~ I recommend a multiple ply with tight twist OR fat single ply, and a minimum 50% animal fiber content for memory/stretch. Sample used Malabrigo Rios in Cumparsita

US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles 28” (70 cm) long

Row Counter
One Stitch Marker
Blocking Surface & T pins or Blocking Wires
Tapestry Needle
Cable Needle (optional -for alt. wrapping method see note pg.3)

Final – post blocking:
40.5” (103 cm) full circumference/20.25” (51.5 cm) wide flat
6” (15.5 cm) main width/6.75” (17 cm) to point tips

’As knit’ measurements:
30” (76.5 cm) circumference by 6”(15.5 cm) to points

As you can see, blocking makes a large impact on size.
