“This colorway gave me fits trying to find a stitch pattern that would work with it and not against it. Strong, deep colors are always challenging, and the first few designs I tried (including the lace motif that eventually ended up featured on the Tulip Socks) just didn’t work. After much thought, I decided to try something with simple, linear lace elements. Success! The stitch pattern I settled on after much swatching and deliberation allows the colors of the yarn to shine through without being muddied by an elaborate motif. I opted for toe-up construction so that the little “v”s would be pointing like arrow tips down the length of the leg and foot. A gusset and heel flap add extra room across the instep. Lots of purled and twisted stitches help the gorgeous little blips of color in this yarn really pop.”
