Autumn Leaves Fall Necklace Scarf
This piece was designed to show off the beauty of a small quantity of handspun yarn during a season when the weather is still pretty warm. The contrasting yarn was a sport weight because that seemed to be the average of the handspun thicknesses, but the pattern will work well with a variety of yarn weights depending on the look you want.
Materials:
sport weight wool yarn – about 15 g/40 meters (1/2 oz./44 yards)
hand spun wool yarn or other contrasting yarn of choice – about 15 g/40 meters (1/2 oz./44 yards)
fine wire or felt backing to stiffen leaves (optional)
For best results, use a natural fiber such as wool that can be blocked. Blocking is essential to reveal the beauty of this piece and the yarns you use. For more information on blocking wool, please visit my blog post here:

Tools:
6.5 mm (U.S. size 10.5) circular or double point needles, or size needed to give desired airiness to leaves
soaking basin
board and pins for blocking
Gauge:
One knitted leaf (pattern rows 1 – 14) in the sport weight yarn is 2 inches by 3 inches (5 cm by 7.6 cm) after blocking. Finished piece is about 44 inches long (112 cm). Gauge is not essential in this pattern, as long as the knitted leaf pleases you, so feel free to substitute other weights of yarn to get your desired effect.
