This pattern features a silhouette of the ‘Rabbit in the Moon’ that children look for in Japan during Moon Viewing season in September.

It has a filet crochet chart, and instructions on how to turn your crocheted lace fabric into a stiff disks to make earrings. If you are new to filet crochet, you might want to take a look at Beginning Filet Crochet with practice piece on my website, http://teresabolen.com/2013/09/05/beginning-filet-crochet/

please note - the filet crochet design portion is not a word pattern, it is a chart.

Size:
The disks come out to about 40 mm (1.5 inches) when worked on size #40 crochet thread. Varying the thickness of the thread/yarn and hook size will make larger or smaller disks.

Materials:
Olympus Kinpyo (Gold Label) #40 / 10g (金票40番 10g玉巻) cotton crochet thread (or yarn/thread in desired size)
1.0 mm (US steel size 12) crochet hook (or appropriate hook to match yarn/thread)
needle for weaving in ends
blocking board and pins
lace stiffening solution
earring components

One pair of earrings takes about 3-4 g of thread, so you can probably get two pair of earrings from one ball of thread.
