I decided I had to knit one of these for my daughter after one time too many carrying her baby doll for her when she wanted her to come along. I had a few goals when knitting this – I wanted flexibility in
how it is attached, so it can grow with her. I also don’t like sewing seams or anything. At all. It is just not in my skill set. Therefore I wanted to minimize the amount of sewing required. And finally I wanted something that would knit pretty quickly. This pattern is created from the notes I made while knitting this for my daughter. I made it for a 14-15” baby doll (head to toe) but the pattern can be adjusted for a taller doll. I put an American Girl doll (well, a generic brand version) in and it fit just fine around, but was too short. Add some more rows for length and it should work just fine.

The pattern calls for DK weight, but worsted would work as well as size is not critical.
