Do you have a tote or closet full of partial skeins left over from sweaters or socks? This is the pattern for you. We just moved so I knew what I had and it was quite embarrassing all the little bits I had saved. But to put them all together I decided to add some black I found in the lot. I love color and to be able to put my favorites all in one item of clothing was a total winner! The pattern is easily memorized and can be used for any weight of yarn once you know what your gauge is. I had quite a bit of fingering and sport in my leftovers. Of course this also led to some silk my daughter and I had dyed for our yarn business, so putting 2-3 colors of this together made a very nice dressy cowl, perfect gift for friends and sister-in-laws. I do believe with manly colors it would work for brother-in-laws too!

My fingering weight cowls used between 69-75 grams of yarn, while the sport weighed in at 115 grams. The silk is rated as sport, used right at 100 grams and 300 yds.

You could make it much longer, but I have found that my favorite cowl is one that just snuggles around my neck and keeps me warm.

So attack that stash of partials, and create a one of a kind cowl!
