In the late summer, wild blackberries ripen into dark purple sweetness. The best berries always seem to be guarded by thorns or just out of reach. The ridges in this pattern represent the challenges of berry picking while the berry motifs represent the rewards.

This cowl is meant to show off a self-striping yarn however the textural quality of the pattern will also look good in a sold or tonal yarn.

To make this cowl as shown you will need 400 yards of a fingering weight yarn. The original yarn gauge shown in the pattern was 28 st to 4 in/10 cm on size 3 US/3.25 mm needles.

This pattern contains both written and charted instructions as well as a blocking schematic. This pattern is knit in the round. Gauge is not critical for this pattern as it is an accessory, However, changes in gauge will affect the yardage needed for this cowl.
