Boudoir Bed Jacket
This charming 1940s inspired bed jacket is an adapted pattern from an original Bestway UK booklet! Boudoir keeps all the original features like the lace motif, ribbed yoke, and satin ribbon closure, but with a reinvented pattern and construction to make it an easy, pleasant, and size inclusive knit from start to finish.
Boudoir is knit from the bottom-up and does not have set in sleeves -- these are made nearly seamlessly! It utilizes the modified raglan method, which has you knit the body up to the underarm; knit each sleeve up to the underarm separately, then join them all together on the row directly following the underarm bind off. The yoke is made all in one piece, and only the top of the sleeve caps are set in to the shoulders, giving the illusion of set in sleeves without the seaming work.
The Boudoir Bed Jacket also comes in two lengths! Choose from a cropped bed jacket at the waist, or make a full length jacket that goes to the high hip. While the sample is knit in the full length version, I have a hunch the cropped version would look adorable as a bolero, too!
Like always, my garment patterns use a body measurement x gauge system of pattern writing, making them fully size inclusive and tailored to your personal measurements. There are plenty of resources at Squid School to get you started on this method of pattern instruction!
This pattern (and plenty more vintage inspired knits) is available exclusively at Squid’s School of Vintage Knitting! Come join the fun and make your own bed jacket!
