This is the first Bruges Lace pattern I designed. Needing a new gym bag, I decided to make one using the Bruges Lace design. This should be good enough to hold pants, a small towel, and a shirt as well as a belt--the things I normally carry on my gym bag.

Crocheted Bruges lace is a technique to imitate the actual bruges lace. It involves creating a long strip of dc. A typical row of dc strip consists of 5 ch and 4 dc which can then be formed into any desired shape.

I used three skeins of yarn from the dollar store. That being said, you can substitute this yarn with 100% acrylic, fine weight yarn (2). You would use about 250 yards. 300 yards is a generous estimate.
