The saying April showers bring May flowers served as inspiration for this design. The outline of this crescent shawl looks like a flower blossom thanks to its beautifully scalloped bottom edge and the deep lace border pattern includes a variety of leaf shapes with vertical lines reminiscent of water trickling down after the rain (CHART ONLY).

The shawl is worked form the top down, starting with the small-scale beaded lace along the cast on edge. Shallow stockinette short rows are worked next creating the shawl’s crescent shape. The overall leaf pattern follows and later merges seamlessly into the more elaborate beaded lace border (900 4.00 mm 6/0 seed beads). Although the beads add beautiful sparkle and drape to the shawl, the shawl can be worked just as effectively without any beads.
