For me, when I think of Valentine’s Day and February, I think of flowers, candy and lace, which I think are all reflected in this month’s sock club colorway and pattern. One note I want to make right away—because of the lace rib in this pattern, it’s stretchier than a typical vanilla sock or last month’s pattern. The directions call for casting on 64 stitches, and then decreasing down to 60 stitches periodically in the leg—I find this helps the sock stay up on my leg and not fall down or end up baggy at the ankle. To adjust the size of the sock, I suggest moving down to a US 0 needle, rather than changing the stitch count. As always, think of this as more of a recipe than a true pattern—feel free to make the leg longer or shorter, or change up the heel or toe construction. I’ve written the pattern with my own preferences in mind, so that you have a starting point. I hope you enjoy!

Materials:
• 300-460 yards of fingering weight yarn (depending on size of calf and foot desired). Shown in francofille knits Volupté on Chaussette (463 yards 100 grams)
• US size 0 (2 mm) or 1 (2.25 mm) circular needles with cable long enough for magic loop (or preferred sock needles). Note: If you normally knit a 56 stitch sock, use US 0 and US 1 if you normally knit a 64 stitch sock
• Tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• At least 1 stitch marker
