This scarf can be made with about 1/2 skein of each color.

The scarf is nicely reversible, requires no finishing beyond working in a very few ends, and doesn’t curl or roll.

This design was inspired by and fits the criteria of the Scarves for Special Olympics Washington State Games. It is my hope that those who take advantage of the free download will make up at least one scarf for donation to a charitable cause.

GUAGE – Using Red Heart Super Saver Solids (either color) and US size 10 needles make a swatch as follows: KO 18; work 3 rws (k3, p3) across; work 3 rws (p3, k3) across; repeat these 6 rws until 24 rws are complete. Analysis of swatch should yield: 15 sts and 20 rws = 4 in. Adjust needle size until you get the correct guage.

Errata: Apparently, my great-grandmother’s terminology for cast on methods is not up-to-date (I suppose I should not find this surprising since she passed in late 1973, just shy of 101 years of age) and my reference to cast on methods is confusing. After reviewing the video tutorials, I recommend use of the knit on, long-tail or double cast on methods for this scarf. I do not recommend use of the single or backward loop cast on methods for this scarf.
