This pattern is for a single size cabled slouchy beanie. When selecting your yarn, look for fibers with a good drape- this will help give the back of the hat a nice sag. Gauge is less important for size as the hat is stretchy, so look for a needle size that gives you good texture while also creating a loose enough fabric that it can hang.

While there is only one written size, it is possible to make a child sized version by using lighter yarn and smaller needles- for example, with Cascade Superwash Sport and size 5-6 needles. It’s also possible to bump the size up and use a heavier weight of yarn and larger needles, though I wouldn’t recommend anything heavier than worsted.

Hat uses between 210-220 yards total, or two skeins Santi by Illimani yarn. For a fun optional finish add a large pom pom (requires additional yardage, but two skeins Cascade Superwash Sport was plenty for the hat and a full pom pom).
