This hat pattern is my arrangement of traditional Scandinavian baby hat with a few improvements: it is re-written so that it can be knitted top down and in the round. This eliminates the need to purl, to sew the seams and to do calculations before starting. This way the recipe works for every yarn, every gauge and every size.

What I like most about this hat, is its shape — it has a cute tip just like a comma, hence the name. I find it very practical too: it covers the child’s forehead and ears without sliding over their eyes. This is a very nice basic hat recipe for northern climate.

This hat can be knitted with one yarn, especially if it’s self-striping or variegated just as well as alternating two yarns thus creating stripes. I have included instructions for two different edge variations too.
