Add a little elegance to your weekly shop while saving the planet from plastic bags. Going glamping? Use this handy bag to tote your supplies to the shower block or treat it to a day at the beach.

This written pattern is worked in the round from the bottom up and includes a choice of two different straps / handles. Large, medium, and small sizing can be achieved by using worsted, dk, and 4ply respectively.

Materials:
Double Pointed Needles in a size to achieve your gauge
16in Circular Needles in a size to achieve your gauge
Stitch Marker
Crochet hook or tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Approx 250g or less Cotton in your choice of color and weight. Suggestions below:

Large – This is a robust bag that can handle the heavy groceries with no problems. Pictured in 250g (410 yrds) of Rowan Cotton Jeans (worsted) with a combination of Jute and Sierra it is knitted to a gauge of 5.8 stitches per inch, in pattern, using 4mm (US 6) needles. The contrast bottom took exactly one 50g skein. Finished dimensions for the body are roughly 9 inches high and 13 inches across unstretched. The bag bottom measures 9 inches across. This gauge can also be achieved using dk.

Meduim – A great mid size bag for toteing just about anything you can think of. Pictured in Wendy Supreme Luxury Cotton dk with a combination of red poppy (30g) and Iris (115g – 90g for body and 25g for straps) for a total cotton used of 145g (318 yrds). It is knitted to a gauge of 7.6 stitches per inch, in pattern, using 3.5mm (US 4) needles. Finished dimensions for the body are roughly 7 1/2 inches high and 10 inches across unstretched. The bag bottom measures 8 inches across.

Small – Perfect for more delicate market items or for use as an everyday lunch bag. Pictured in 60g (217yrds) of Patons 100% cotton 4ply in Fuchsia and knitted to a gauge of 9.5 stitches per inch, in pattern, using 2.5mm (US 1 ½) needles. Finished dimensions for the body are roughly 5 1/2 inches high and 8 inches across unstretched. The bag bottom measures 6 inches across.
