Pattern description from Knitting in Plain English: “This reversible shawl is knit in one piece from the point outward. The exact finished size will depend upon how firmly or loosely the knitter is forming the stitches, but, generally speaking, it will be approximately 29 inches (73.7 cm) long from the cast-on edge, and 50 inches (127 cm) across the bound-off edge, not including fringe.”

Measurements: Approximately 29 inches (73.7 cm) long from the cast-on edge, and 50 inches (127 cm) across the bound-off edge, not including fringe.

Materials Needed:

  • Three 3.5-ounce (100gm) skeins of smooth classic knitting worsted yarn in a medium color.
  • Size 8 (5mm) circular needle, 29 inches (73.7 cm) long.
  • Tapestry or metal yarn needle
  • Size J (6mm) crochet hook for making fringe
  • Scissors

“Before starting, review the two-strand method of casting on in Chapter 10, how to form the knit stitch in Chapter 11, how to form the purl stitch in Chapter 12, and making yarn-over increases in Chapter 14.”

Note: “If you have to cut and join yarn because of knots or imperfections, do it at the end of a row, even if you have to rip back a few stitches.”
