Giraffic Day is a crochet cowl worked in the round with the front side always facing up. The polka dots stitch pattern uses spike stitches. You will find an explanation of how to work these stitches on page 2.
Color 1 and Color 2 are used in different proportions in this stitch pattern. To be able to use the two whole skeins of yarn, the first half of the cowl is worked with C1 as the base color, and the second half is worked with C2 as the base color.
This cowl is also part of a two-pattern bundle, Polka Dot Moods.
- Yarn: Sock by Malabrigo, light fingering/3 ply, 100% merino, 440yd (402m) per 100g skein, 1.skein each in shades: 803 Ochre and 811 Eggplant
- Regular crochet hook: US E (3.5mm)
- Yarn needle to weave in ends
Finished Size (blocked):
28” (71cm) in circumference, 19” (48.25cm) tall
Approximate blocked gauge:
Each repeat is about 2.5” (6.35cm) wide and 1” (2.5cm) tall
Gauge is not crucial for this design. The size of the cowl can be adjusted by making a shorter or longer base round. Bear in mind that if your gauge is different than the stated, your yardage requirements and finished dimensions will change.
