Fall is my favorite season. And, quite appropriately, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

This cowl is inspired by both.

The warmth of the merino combined with the light, comfortable weight of the cowl make this a perfect accessory for those slightly chilly fall days -- and nights! The white, natural colored yarn used reminds me of the long, intricate webs spun by the season’s final spiders. And the lace pattern of gentle arches-- looking so reminiscent of gravestones-- combined with a few subtle beads that hover above the gravestones, almost hauntingly, look like ghostlights…

The lace pattern itself is fairly simple, worked in the round and is fully charted. There is also an option written out for doing a picot edging instead of the simple edging shown in the pictures!

You will need to understand how to work basic lace patterns, how to add beads to stitches and, if you are working the picot edging, how to do a provisional crochet cast on.

Graveyards and Ghostlights was originally made with handspun cobweb merino so I suggest using Malabrigo lace as a retail alternative. You will also need roughly 200 size 6/0 seed beads, a steel crochet hook (to place beads) and a US E crochet hook (for provisional cast on if desired) to make this pattern.

This is my first knitted accessories pattern and I have attempted to be as clear and concise as possible. But if you spot any errors, have any problems or anything else, please contact me here on Ravelry, through my website, yarnpaint.com, or through email: yarnpaint@gmail.com
