In collaboration with Carla of Purple Lamb Fiber Arts, the Handspun Highlight Scarf is designed to highlight special handspun art yarn. Sparkly Merino Sock yarn is available here and the Handspun Minis are available here.

Handspun Highlight Scarf is knit with Carla’s Sparkly Merino Sock Weight in Lilac as the scarf body and her Handspun Mini Worsted Weight in Highland Heather as the contrasting highlight.

It features handspun / art yarn in a curving 1/1 cable on a garter stitch field, bordered by tidy i-cord selvedge edges. This scarf looks great with or without fringe.

For newbies, there is a long version, offering step-by-step instructions on working the handspun cable. You’ll learn how to knit a 1/1 cable, as well as managing your yarn so the back of the work looks nice. For those with more knitting experience, there is a short version and a chart.

This pattern is adjustable to the amount of available handspun and can be modified to be wider or longer without any additional calculations.

You may like this pattern if…
…you want to highlight your handspun or fancy art yarn.
…you need an adjustable pattern for a limited amount of handspun.
…you have leftovers of various yarns you’d like to use in a project.
…you don’t like purling. This pattern doesn’t use the purl stitch.
…you want a pattern that is easy to memorize.
…you would like to learn the principle of how to make a cable.

You can find Carla’s handspun yarns in her shop here.
