When you still can’t pass a wardrobe without peeking in and testing the back for tree branches and lampposts it may be time to knit this cowl. This pattern was designed for my mom, who first showed me the way to Narnia and the rest of C.S. Lewis’ magical works.

The “In the Land of Spare Oom” cowl is double knitted so the sides mirror each other. I like double knitting because of the clean finish on both sides and it is reversible.

You will need approximately 275 yards each of two highly contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn.

There’s also the option of adding duplicate stitch on the lamppost’s panes to give an added glow.

This pattern is free and two printable versions of the chart are included: one is formatted for one legal sized sheet and the other for two letter sized sheets. Print either one according to your preference- the chart is the same for both.

So come along and knit… “further up and further in!”
