This cuff-down sock pattern creates great texture knit up in self striping, variegated or semi-solid yarns. Ideal yarn choice is self striping yarn with medium to wide stripes of similar width.

Using a colorful yarn like Trailing Cloud’s “Mind the Gap” gives your socks the ultimate “Wow!” factor.

Once you get the hang of it, the stitch pattern is easily memorized, making this a great pattern when you’re on the go.

Pattern is divided into two versions: one for self striping yarns and one for non self striping yarns, such as semi-solids, solids or variegated colorways. Some chart reading is required.

Written for three sizes: Small, Medium, Large and approximate yarn required is 340 yards, 390 yards, and 450 yards respectively.
Note: Large size uses an entire skein of the recommended yarn. If you are a loose knitter or if you choose to forgo knitting a gauge swatch, you may need 2 skeins to complete a pair in the Large size.

Techniques used:

  • Knitting in the round
  • Knit/Purl
  • Cables, across 2 stitches
  • Decreases (K2tog, SSK)
  • Picking up stitches
  • Grafting/Kitchener Stitch

A special thank you goes out to my test knitters, Kat (guapakw) and Helen (josiekitten), for all their time, effort and input. I couldn’t have done it without you!
