When we were planning our daughter‘s Christening Ceremony and a big family gathering, I thought: Well, I need to buy her a dress. But where to go and what to buy? Two months before the set date, it suddenly occured to me that – obviously! – I would knit her one. Because I am a knitting mommy, and that‘s what we do, right? I let her pick the motif („little flowers“), and the color („pink“), but the rest was up to me: I wanted some white in it, but not at the bottom hem where it would not have stayed white for a long time. So I created a chart of „transition flowers“: lots of them at the bottom, fewer of them at the top. Rita looked lovely on her big day!

The dress is knit bottom-up in the round and starts with a provisional cast-on and a picot hem.The flower motif is given as a chart. The left shoulder is closed with two buttons. This pattern will be easy if you are familiar with provisional crochet-cast-on, stranded colorwork, following a chart, knitting in the round, decreasing, picking up stitches and making buttonholes – otherwise, expect to learn something while knitting this lovely dress for your little one!
The dress in the pictures is size M, the little Model is 2 1/2 years old and about 95 cm tall.
