This headband / earwarmer features horseshoe cables with a garter stitch trim. It is knit flat allowing you to make it the right length for any size head. I have a particularly large head and whenever I knit a headband in the round it turns out too small so I designed this one.

I designed this with a simple cast on and cast off that you then sew up as a seem. Of course if you are an experienced knitter you can change the cast on to a provisional cast on and finish the headband off by grafting (Kitchener stitch).

If you wish to substitute worsted weight yarn for the bulky yarn you can do so and go down to a US 8 or 5.00 mm needle and just tack on an extra stitch or two to the garter trim at each side to keep the same width.
