The design for this cowl pattern is inspired by the interiors of the palace of Meereen in Game of Thrones. It is being released to mark the final season of the series.

The pattern gives options for a narrow style neckwarmer or a wider loose cowl, both worked in DK weight yarn. An option for a longer infinity-style cowl, worked in sport weight yarn, is also given. This is worked as a double-sided fabric so there’s no worry about the wrong side showing if you want to join it as a mobius scarf.

The cowl is worked in mosaic colourwork. The pattern is charted, with mosaic-style charts.

You will need two skeins of yarn in contrasting colours. These could be two solids or semi-solids, one solid and a speckle dyed, a variegated yarn with definite contrast colours to a main colour, or a solid and a long colour change or gradient yarn. You could even work a fade for the contrast colour from leftovers or mini-skeins.

The neckwarmer takes just over 50g of each colour and the loose cowl around 75g of each. The infinity scarf-style is designed to take almost a full 100g skein of each colour (if you wanted to work it at a looser guage you might need more yarn). Tips for variations are given in the pattern.

The pattern is designed for a Funtimes KAL in the Nerdopolis group. This is now open and runs for the duration of May. Info and discussion is also open in the Jupiter Lily Designs group.
