This pattern is inspired by the gorgeous colors in a skein of Hand Maiden Double Sea Silk. When I showed it to a friend, we both exclaimed that it looked just like the colors of a mermaid. The shawlette is knit end-to-end with simple increases and decreases, and uses an overlapping waves lace motif that resembles fish scales.

Though it is written for a silk-blend DK weight yarn, it can be knit at any gauge if you have a yarn scale handy. Simply use the Shawlette Recipe provided with the pattern to knit it with any size needles and yarn.

Pattern is both fully written and charted. Finished size is 14” deep with a 52” wingspan.

A huge thank you to Spinn-Dixie for test knitting. Thanks to her notes, the pattern has been updated to provide greater clarity on when to begin and end each charted section, as well as when the edging stitches are included in the overall stitch count.
