In Pride and Prejudice, Miss Caroline Bingley was Elizabeth Bennet’s rival for the affections of Mr. Darcy, but she proved no match for the forthright Miss Elizabeth Bennet when it came to winning Mr. Darcy’s heart. Inspired by the sheer variety of millinery choices available during the Regency era, I imagine Miss Bingley’s hair entwined in this stylish knitted head wrap.

Subtle increase and decrease shaping is worked back and forth to form tapered ends that, once seamed, fit neatly under the hair at the back of the wearer’s neck. Stitches are then picked up along the top for ruffled lace edges that are worked in the round. Separately knitted I-cord and “feather” embellishments are stitched to the head wrap for a finishing touch.
