When my daughter was in high school, she was more likely to forget mittens than when she was five years old. So when she asked for a long, skinny scarf, I knitted the mittens right into the ends. It’s a big hit at her school because the kids think it’s kind of cool looking… and I know her hands are toasty.

Yarn
4-5 skeins Rowan Little Big Wool (60 m/50g, 67% wool, 33% nylon), or
any chunky weight yarn, approximately 300 yards (for a 90” long scarf, approximately 250 yards for 60” scarf).

Needles
US 11 for the scarf
US 9 (either dpns or two circular) for the mittens (this makes the fabric denser and warmer for the mittens).

Gauge
17 sts = 3” unstretched in 1x1 rib.
