“Nonstop net” market bags are worked in one piece from the center front outwards in back- and forth rows with the exception of the integrated handles, which are worked in joined rounds. Shaping increases and decreases are cleverly hidden within the filet crochet pattern, and if worked from a large skein, there will be only one tail to hide at the end.
Other options included in the pattern are a two-color bag (still worked in one piece, with an additional color for handle and trim) and a two-piece joined bag from smaller skeins (easier to make since it has no decreases and no closing up of the back opening is required).

This pattern is fully written out in detail and fully charted at the same time, making it easy to use one’s favorite method or to acquaint oneself with a new one.

The 9-page pattern contains: schematic, 2 full charts (front and back), detailed row-by-row instructions with helpful hints and an additional chart for closing up the opening at the back as separate chart, written out and as photo tutorial. Another photo tutorial within the pattern shows how to join the handle.
US crochet terminology is used with UK equivalents in the chart legends and list of stitches used.

Stitches used:
– single crochet (sc)
– double crochet (dc) = UK treble crochet
– triple crochet (tr) = UK double treble
– chain (ch)
– slip stitch (sl-st)
– dc2tog = double crochet two stitches together

Difficulty level: Adventurous beginner. Everything is explained in great detail, but you have to count and keep track where you are.

Gauge is not very important.
If you find your yarn is much thinner or would like a larger bag, just add a few more repeats of Row 12 after Row 13 until you like the size before proceeding with Row 14.

These nets can be made from any sturdy, rip-resistant material: Kitchen cotton, crochet nylon thread, viscose, ribbon yarn, hemp or even not-too-thick packing twine. Avoid delicate or fluffy yarns that might rip, snag the contents or obstruct the filet pattern.

There are decorative exclamation points in the filet pattern on the sides of the bag. Lately, it seems to have become popular to use more and more exclamation points on signage where they don’t belong, so I took the liberty to put them on a market net where you normally also wouldn’t have expected any! Long live the exclamation point - especially where it’s totally out of place!!

This pattern has been test crocheted.
