Notched Arrow is the first shawl/scarf I designed about 4 years ago. Just reknitted it and wrote the pattern.

It is knitted from the top down. It starts with a 4-stitch seed stitch tab. I worked on this tab for days to perfect it so it does not pucker. The pattern includes the technique I developed.

The feather stripes are really-easy-to-do cross-stitch embroidered after the shawl is blocked. I chose to go with cross-stitch vs. vertical intarsia because the lines stand out more. Step by step instructions and pictures are included to work the X-stitch columns.

I worked the pattern in Tosh DK (pink shawl), on 5 mm needle, and Malabrigo Rios (orange shawl), on 5.5 mm needle to make it a bit larger. It works beautifully in both yarns and on both needle sizes. I worked the main color until I ran out of yarn, then worked the contrast color. It takes about 3/4 of contrast color.

The project is a very fast knit.
