This hungry pelican has been fishing for their supper, and has caught a fish to carry home in their beak.

Designed by Amanda Berry @fluffandfuzz, the toys are knitted in acrylic DK yarns on single pointed needles (not in the round). Worked mostly in stockinette with increases and decreases for shaping, the pattern also incorporates Kitchener stitch to finish the pelican’s beak.

NEEDLES
A pair of 3.75mm single pointed knitting needles (US 5)

RECOMMENDED YARN
Sirdar Hayfield Bonus DK; double knitting/light worsted weight; 100% acrylic; one 100g/280m skein in each colour

NOTIONS
Tapestry needle, toy filling, and beads for eyes.

SIZES
One size only - The pelican is 13cm tall and the fish 4cm long.

TECHNIQUES
For confident beginners and above, other techniques used include casting on and off, knits, purls, increases and decreases, and seaming to finish.
