Hi everyone!
My name is T.J. (or Tiffany) of Toye Knits Designs and this is my first ever written pattern. I have been knitting for a number of years and, in fact, can testify that knitting saved my life. My mum, Wendy, is the other half of Toye Knits Designs and the person who introduced me to knitting.
In recent months I began knitting with The Blue Brick Ombre yarn and, with each stitch I knit, felt more and more inspired to step out of my comfort zone and create something entirely unique and something that I could incorporate my poetry into. I know, knitting and poetry, really? Really.
So, inspired by my favourite indie dyer and all her awesomeness, and a poem I wrote called ‘Warrior’; I came up with this…. the Phoenix Shawl.

Pattern Description:

This Phoenix Shawl is started at the centre neck and worked outwards with increases down the centre and along both sides; producing a heart-shaped finish.
In the sample, we used 500 yards of sport weight which produced a shawl 25” deep at front drop and 50” at the widest points when laid flat. This pattern offers versatility and can be knit using any yarn of your choice, from lace weight to DK.
The patterned sections of this eye-catching shawl offer variety while knitting (without great difficulty) and produce a dramatic look when complete. Beads were used on the sample in some of the eyelet sections, but are entirely optional and versatile. A picot edge bind off is the ideal finish for this, adding to the overall dramatic look. Your finished masterpiece can be worn in a variety of ways while still showcasing all of the design elements.
The Phoenix Shawl will soon become one of your go-to pieces to wear and to knit.

Happy knitting,

T.J.
