Do you remember that gingham dress your Mom made you as a kid? Well I do and as a result I still have a secret love affair with anything gingham. This has inspired these mitts, the little girl in pigtails and gingham, is framed in gingham that wraps around the mitt to the palm.
There are separate charts for adult and child sizes, all other size is adjusted by the gauge.
For Child size mitts
large size, in worsted weight yarn at a gauge of
22sts-4ins for a 10-12yr old.
Medium sizes, in DK/sport weight yarn at a gauge of
26sts-4ins for a 6-7yr old.
28sts-4ins for a 4-5yr old.
Small size in fingering weight yarn at a gauge of
30sts -4ins for a 2-3yr old.
You will need about half a skein of yarn in each colour for one pair of child sized mitts.
The charts for an adult version of these mitts are in a separate PDF, available as a free bonus when you buy this pattern.
For the adult mitts.
26sts-4ins gives you a large pair of mitts,
28sts-4ins will give you medium size mitts,
30sts-4ins to get a small pair,
There is now a matching hat pattern (chart only)
If you bought the original pattern with the adult charts included in the PDF do not the those charts they have some errors in the thumb gussets.
All chart errors have been fix as of Nov.29/2012.
