This pattern is for dog and cat lovers who hold a special place in their heart for pets with paws .

Saundra is my rescued German Shepherd dog, she suffers with severe polyarthritis and is currently unable to stand or walk, Its my hope that with continued physical and hydro therapy she will become strong enough to support herself in a mobility cart, and run around on her own.

I designed this fingerless mitt as the perfect gift for Saundra’s physical therapist.

Skills needed include: Stranded color work (2 colors), working in the round with DPN’s, Long Tail cast on , Knit, Purl, M1L, M1R, SSK, pick up and knit, and bind off- done in rib pattern.

Basic Yardage suggestions:
Main Color ~100 yards of DK weight yarn
Complimentary Color~30 yards of DK weight yarn

All proceeds from the sale of this pattern go directly to support Saundra’s ongoing therapy.

These fingerless mitts are knit in the round from the bottom up, while I chose to use double pointed needles , they can also be knit using 2 circular needles.

Charts for both the left and right mitt are included, along with full knitting instructions.

Using DK yarn gives the mitt a dense cozy fit, Changes in yarn base and needle size will alter this fit accordingly.

More of Saundra’s story can be read on Facebook.
