My favorite part of Vogue Knitting – The Ultimate Knitting Book is the Stitch Dictionary chapter with over 100 stitch patterns. I like to select favorites and determine how to incorporate them into knitting projects.

The simple vine stitch pattern appealed to me because it is lacy and has a lot of motion and texture. If you have not mastered knitting lacy patterns, be sure to keep careful track of the line currently being knit and check your work for accuracy frequently to make corrections easier to manage. It is very easy to miss a YO or a Psso. Be sure to use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of rounds.

The “close” version of the hat will fit the average woman’s head. Instructions for “slouchier” and/or “looser” versions are provided in case they are needed.
