A companion to Spencer’s Chessboard Scarf, slipped and textured stitches come together to create a block pattern reminiscent of a chessboard that wraps around the leg and continues uninterrupted through the heel. Knit these socks for yourself or your own Dr. Reid and take your game with you wherever you go!

Size Medium (approximately 8-9” circumference), but suggested yarn is suuuuper stretchy and will accommodate a variety of leg/calf sizes. Foot length is adjustable, just knit as long or as short as you need within the 6-round pattern repeat.

Gauge: 30 sts and 42 rows= 4” (10 cm) in Chessboard pattern st and Stockinette st after wet blocking. Gauge swatch should be knit in the round.

Pattern is written for 1 skein of Resilient Superwash Merino Sock Yarn by Expression Fiber Arts in colorway Neptune and US size 2 9” circular needle, but can easily be knit on DPNs if preferred. A solid or semi-solid color will best show the texture in the Chessboard pattern stitch, but you can use any color yarn that makes your heart smile. Have fun with these socks!
