This gnome was great fun to knit. This is “The Swimmer”, second in a series I’m working on. After all, who doesn’t want a gnome for each season, right?! It’s a pretty easy knit, nothing fancy going on. Too hot for that!

His natty swimsuit is a Victorian fashion statement, his hat, of course is “Gnomey”. The swimming ring is that special touch to add fun. It’s all stockinette. Knitted mostly in the round. You will need a set of four size US4/3.5 double pointed knitting needles; 8” length works well.

So, stay out of the heat and knit this dapper fellow in front of your fan! It’s also a great way to use up scraps of dk. I’ve used 6 colors: peach (Berroco Baby DK), navy, white, red, medium blue, yellow, and bright red (Berroco Vintage DK). He is stuffed with Poly-fil toy fiberfill. I also added a “pillow” of cotton fabric filled with plastic pellets to make him stable when sitting.
