This pattern is a variant of a scarf inspired by the columns and wall decorations in the TARDIS console room. I will be releasing the original pattern in the autumn to coincide with the start of the new series of Doctor Who. Purchasers of this pattern will receive an update containing a code to get the original pattern free on its release. This will include a lace edging, and options for skinny and DK versions.

This Tits Out in the TARDIS variant celebrates the new – and first female – incarnation of the Doctor. The different borders on this scarf are inspired by the strategically placed stripes (aptly so for the Countess’s theme!) on Jodie Whittaker’s Doctor Who costume.

Pattern gives a 130cm (or longer) long scarf with a width of 22cm (but final dimensions may vary with different yarns, quantities of yarn, gauge or personal preference). Pattern sample was knit using Countess Ablaze Lady Persephone Sock Yarn in Shit Tea & Tray Bake for colour A and If I Want Exposure, I’ll Get My Tits Out for colour B. Any skein of 4 ply yarn in the Tits Out colourway from a member of the Tits Out Collective can be combined with any neutral or strongly contrasting colour. Requires approx. 150m of 4 ply yarn in colour A (a neutral or contrast semi-solid) and 300m in colour B (a bright variegated), but amounts will vary depending on how long you want your scarf to be. Gauge is not critical and may be varied as desired depending on whether you prefer a firmer or more draping fabric. Knit on 3.5mm (or US size 4) straight needles or circular needle with short-medium length cable, or size to achieve desired fabric. Two stitch markers may be used if desired (optional).

This is an easy knit combining colour stripes with yarn carried up the edging and a simple patterning with slip stitches. The main pattern has a relaxed roll edge (an alternative garter edging can be substituted).

All profits from the sales of this pattern during July (the month of the Tits Out Collective) were donated to Worldwide Cancer Research, a Scottish charity that has two former Doctor Whos – Peter Capaldi and David Tennant – as ambassadors.

The indie dyer Countess Ablaze produced two special, limited edition colourways in early 2018 when she was asked to provide yarn and teaching time for a crochet evening for a business local to her. The Countess went on to launch the Tits Out Collective (#titsoutcollective) in June and opened the If I Want Exposure colourway up for any dyer, designer or notions maker to produce their own versions and raise money for a charity of their choice. See the full story here. This pattern was my contribution to the Collective.

Update 12th July 2018 - £105 has been donated to Worldwide Cancer Research. Thank you so much to everyone who bought the pattern as part of #titsoutcollective.

Update 31st July 2018 - a further £30 from sales during the second half of July has been donated, bring the total to £135. Thank you to everyone who got their Tits Out in the TARDIS!
