Fair Isle cowl pattern which is over a 10 stitch repeat which is easily memorized and a good pattern for beginners to Fair Isle knitting.
The size could be varied to be deeper by adding in additional repeat of the pattern to give a deeper cowl. I have added in the diamond twice in this design.
I have used one 25g ball of both Jamieson’s Spindrift Madder and Tartan and for the white I used up a part used ball of Jamieson and Smith Shetland Supreme jumper weight wool - I like this as it is slightly thicker in the cowl but any white or natural white is fine from Spindrift range at Jamieson’s or Jamieson and Smith.
I knitted with 3 double pointed needles but you can easily knit in the round with a round circular needle instead. The only other thing required is a tapestry need and one stitch marker (and a scrap piece of wool knotted around the needle is a suitable alternative).
The gauge after blocking on the Fair Isle is 29 sts and 34 rounds.
