Vostok is an ethereally lacy half-pi shawl designed especially to showcase Dream in Color’s March 2012 Dream Club offering.

The shawl features several, distinctive and delicate motifs and a wide, knitted-on border that eliminates the need to bind off hundreds of stitches along the bottom edge.

Beginning with a garter tab cast-on of just a few stitches, Vostok is worked from the top down and reaches a finished size, after blocking, of 60 inches wide by 24 inches deep, which allows it either to drape elegantly across the shoulders or to wrap, scarf or kerchief-like around the neck.

Vostok’s lace sections are primarily charted, and have lace worked on both the right side and the wrong side of the shawl.

Note: While the original Dream Club shipment contained enough yarn in 1 skein to complete the project, you will need 2 skeins of Wisp in its current 550 yard put-up to knit the pattern as written.

Until May 1, 2012, Vostok will be available exclusively as part of the kit for the March 2012 installment of the Dream in Color Dream Club. In May, the pattern will be available for individual purchase and download here on Ravelry.
