We all know that taking time to swatch for a larger project is important, but sometimes… we just want to get started! And knit something!

These mitts are here to help. It is ever so important to swatch in the round for a project that will be knit in the round, like your next sweater. A proper swatch helps you get in the rhythm of new yarn with chosen needles; gauge evens out, and knitting is a pleasure.

So skip the boring square swatch this time, and cast on for these Swatch Mitts with abandon! You will learn something about your chosen yarn and needles. And have mitts to show for it.

This pattern has an easy rolled edging at the wrist, a no-fuss shorty thumb hole, and some quick cables for the cuffs to snug ‘em up a bit. There is lots of room for you to change the details to match your next sweater’s! Pick a worsted weight yarn, and go for it.

Sizing info: pattern is written for one size, about an adult medium, measuring 7 1/2 - 8” around. Gauge matters, yarn choice matters, but after all, that is what we are here to learn!
