This is a top down triangle shawl. It is predominantly a lace pattern broken occasionally by a set of garter rows. The lace is simple and easy to memorize making it excellent “distracted” knitting. It can also be made larger by working the main chart additional times, or with a larger yarn, but more yardage (& for larger yarn, possibly a larger needle) would be required.

While this shawl is shown in a subtle variegated yarn, it would also look equally stunning in a solid.

Please note, if you prefer, you can do a beaded picot BO. I didn’t care for how the picots worked with the natural points of the lace, so I did my own beaded BO by simply sliding a bead onto a BO stitch at even intervals. However, if you do not like this effect as described in the pattern you may either do a simple BO with no beads or the beaded picot BO.

The pattern is charted with some-- meaning very few-- written instructions.

1) The instructions for the garter sections also need to include the small clarification:

While working the garter “break” sections maintain the yo after the k2 edging, before the center stitch, after the center stitch, & before the ending k2 edging. You will also not purl the edging stitches or center stitches.

2) It has been brought to my attention the incredible amount of ink the charts would devour with the black “no stitch” sections. I will be editing the charts to use white stitches with a simple colored outline to indicate the pattern & its repeats. Hopefully this will be easier for knitters who print out the charts! I apologize for not considering this before & will continue this new method in the future!
