Yarn: You will need only 570 yds of background colour, and small amounts of contrast colours. The sample has been made with two solid pinks, but the rose motif would be a great way to showcase scraps of varigated or hand dyed sock yarn.

This scarf creates an iconic Mackintosh look by combining clean lines and classic shapes with innovative construction. The elegant straight lines contrast with a beautiful, swirling rose design at each end – a unique interpretation of Mackintosh’s famous wall prints. The scarf is constructed from the ends towards the middle, starting with the Rose Square motif which is worked in the round using a spiraling technique. The main body of the scarf is worked in rows from one edge of each Square. The scarf is finished with a slip stitch border and surface crochet details. This is a great pattern for expanding your crochet skills, as the less common techniques of spiraling rounds and surface crochet are accompanied by photo tutorials.
