Extra info:

If using your own handspun, you’ll want to have at least 6 ounces of wool to spin. If you plan to make your shrug longer or larger, you’ll need to increase the amount of starting fiber.

The pattern lists how much unspun wool you will need to complete this project. Add more wool in 1 ounce quantities if you plan to make the shrug longer or larger.

There is no additional sizing other than what is listed in the pattern. This size should fit most adult people, between size US4 and 14. If you need a smaller size, remove the number of stitches in groups of 4 to ensure that the k2p2 ribbing stays consistent.

If you need to increase the size, add the number of stitches you need in groups of 4 to ensure that the k2p2 ribbing stays consistent.

If you would like to expand the cable section, you can add a second central cable panel (the 4x4 cable), remembering to also add in the purls on either side of the cable to offset it from the rest of the pattern. When you alter the pattern in this way, just make sure your total number of stitches is divisible by 4.

There is a lot of creativity in this particular shrug because you can knit it loosely. Use two different yarns (a fingering weight and a worsted weight, for example) held double to get a bulky yarn thickness and a bit of interesting texture in the cables.

Use a lightly heathered yarn to add subtlety to your cable, without making it disappear.
