Zinger is a design built directly into CustomFit, which means that each Zinger pattern is written specifically to your choice of gauge and size.

We all need a fun summer cardigan for when the air conditioning gets cranked, and Zinger fits the bill perfectly. With its layer-friendly lines and fun stripes, it’s the perfect chance to use up bits of that special hand-paint you’ve been saving, play around with gradient stripes, or anything else your imagination dreams up.

Shown with short sleeves and a longer length, CustomFit allows you to choose your own sleeve and hip lengths - so your Zinger will be perfect for you. This is an hourglass design with waist and bust shaping, and you can customize the fit before creating your pattern if you wish.

I’ve made this sample in one of my all-time favorite sweater yarns, Indigodradonfly Chameleon sock, and strongly recommend it for a kicky bit of luxury in your sweater wardrobe - but if you’d prefer a different fiber blend, this cardigan’s silhouette will work well with a variety of materials.

I liked the Chameleon at 7.5 stitches and 10 rows = 1’’, but CustomFit will create your pattern to the gauge you specify - and for that reason, it’s difficult to give any kind of yardage advice! To estimate how much yarn you’ll need, I strongly recommend the “Stashbot” app or pamphlet by Hannah Fettig.

One further note on gauge - while I think the stripe pattern will look attractive at any gauge, if you’d like to preserve this overall proportion of stripes to body, use a fingering- or sport-weight yarn.
