Using a basic top-down pattern based on the one in Susan’s “How I Make My Socks” blog post, combined with the partridge eye heel I learned from Water for Elephants.

12/27: CO 56 stitches, worked leg with one inch of 2x2 KP ribbing for cuff.

12/28: Finished leg, did heel flap, turned the heel, started the heel gusset. I chose to CO 56 based on my gauge and measurements, but I think 64 would have been a better fit. Now I know for next time. It turns out I’m not a big fan of the Eye of the Partridge stitch for the heel flap with this yarn, either. The flap just looks fuzzy and the stitch doesn’t stand out well. Lots of learning what works!

12/29: Finished the heel gusset (decreased to 60) and did a couple rounds of the rest of the foot. Yay sock!

12/31: Officially finished my first sock! It fits great. I hope the second one goes as well.

1/1/15: Did the 1” cuff of the second sock. :)

1/6/15: Finished the heel flap and turned the heel on my lunch break! Haven’t picked up the stitches for the gusset yet.

1/9/15: Finished the heel gusset last night and went back to four needles with 15 stitches each for the foot. Still most of the length of the foot to go.

1/10/15: Finished! I love them! Though they are already all pilled after one wearing. :/ The yarn has been disappointing.

Recipe to remember for my personal fit:

CO 56 with long tail cast-on with US5 dpns.
2 x 2 ribbing for one inch, switching to US2 dpns with the first round.
6” leg including the ribbing.
6cm heel flap.
Decrease every other round for the gusset, stopping at 60 stitches instead of the original 56.
Foot to base of big toe, then start the toe decreases.
