I had this the right way when I was modelling the full length from the back. I think the photos from the front have the shawlette wrong-side out! Oops.

Easy pattern - stunning results, especially in this special yarn.

Did 5 repeats and the lace and 3 garter ridges of the 6th repeat before binding off. Not necessary to end with the lace, in my opinion, and I wanted to use all the handspun.

I was doing the stretchy bind-off where you k2 then put the left needle through the front and knit, but ran out of yarn, so I cast off the stitches loosely with the stretchy bind off every 4th stitch.

Notes from other projects to make the shawl wider:

I cast on 15 sts as others have mentioned to change the look of the mermaid tail. Also cast off 9sts instead of 11 as others have done to make it wider.

Anja215 mods in order to make the shawl deeper and not so long:
CO 13 sts (instead of 5).
Bound off only 9 sts (instead of 11) after lace part.
Omitted kfb increases on the last few rows (less pointy upper edge - like in hitchhiker).
Size: 6 repeats plus one complete lace part
