I want a simple fingerless mitt pattern for my first time knitting mitts so that I can more easily see the construction. I am not going to use scraps for this mitt, but rather some highly variegated yarn I had left in my stash. This one is all about the yarn.

Summary

• Starting weight: 108 grams.

• There is an error in the gusset setup round. The pattern calls for a K1L. I believe the intent of the pattern is a M1L.

• Small error in the thumb gusset section of the pattern: The pattern reads, “Continue knitting for 1.5 inches, or 1/2 inches to desired length”. It should read, “Continue knitting for 1.5 inches or 1/2 inch less than desired length”.

• There is also an error in the thumb. The thumb has 25 stitches. The pattern calls for a pick up of 2 stitches for a total of 27 stitches. There are no additional increases or pickups. The pattern calls for finishing the thumb in a 1x1 rib which requires an even number of stitches.

• I picked up 3 stitches in the thumb to end with an even number of stitches: one on each side and one in the center between the other 2 pickups. I knit the pickup round plus 2 more rows.

• Bound off with a US 2.5 (3.0mm) needles, using the k2tog tbl bind off.

• 69 grams remaining.
